Improving Author Identification
In February, the Web of Science team released a revision of their author identification algorithm to address the complex problem of establishing researcher identity. By using advanced machine learning techniques to analyze each and every author name across the entire scope of the Web of Science Core Collection, every author search will now return articles clustered for unique authors, even when authors have published under a variety of names and while affiliated with many institutions.
